I grew up with Joe in John Rodgers Veterans Housing neighborhood. I would say most of the kids there ended up going to Radford High School. My cousin Edwin Teves was a close friend of Joe’s and my older sister was a good friend of Joe’s sister Deedee when we were young. All the families in John Rodgers were close. I remember Joe had a beautiful blue and white Chevy he drove in high school that he was very proud of. He was a real heartbreaker. My cousin Edwin was kind enough to let me and his younger sister go to the beach with him and Joe one weekend. I tried to impress Joe with my bodysurfing skills only to be pounded into the sand and get up with my pigtails twisted bikini top practically around my neck and my face covered with sand. Make A as they would say back in the day. I maybe saw Joe once after we graduated from high school. I later heard from Marjorie Cordiero that he was very sick and I asked her to tell his sister to give him a kiss and tell him it was from me. Rest in Peace Joe.
