Can't make the Big One so here's an updated bio to share:Mitchell Gould – Short Bio for Radford High School attendance 1968-1969 Junior 1969-1970 Senior (Graduated with mediocre grades) Bought my first vehicle at night and in the rain (mistake as it threw a quart of oil every 5 miles) Dad and I took the car to the special services garage at Fort Shafter and completely rebuilt the engine to replace the leaking front main seal. Boiled the block, reamed the cylinders and replaced the piston rings, had the crank mirrored and installed new oversized bearings. Performed a valve job and reassembled engine with new seal kit. Put in new ball joints and front springs. Best education I ever received. Got an after school job at a Medical Arts building down by the HIC. I had a brief job (3 hours) at the Fort Shafter gas station. Cut short due to battery accident which resulted in battery acid splashing into my eyes. After a quick flush I drove to Tripler Army Medical Center and the lady at the front desk ushered me to the emergency ward where they were waiting with saline solution to rinse my eyes. Once the ophthalmologist was available he spent 30 minutes on each eye picking silver particles out. After 2 days the patches were removed and my eyesight was normal again. I went to some concerts at the HIC: Jethro Tull, The Doors, CSNY, Donovan and I received a high frequency hearing loss from sitting in the front row of Three Dog Night. Regret missing Hendrix and Blind Faith. Attended the Diamond Head Crater festival both years: Heard various bands: Steve Miller group, The Sun and the Moon, Gary Mancho’s group etc. Psychology class was my favorite. The only book I read from cover to cover while I was in high school was a medical text my folks borrowed from Tripler Army Medical Center entitled LSD. The only A that I remember was in Business class. Dad and I learned how to Scuba Dive in a class on Fort Shafter sponsored by special services. We also took a Heli arc welding class out at Wheeler Field to learn how to weld aluminum. I was an Alternate on the Tennis Team. The girl I asked to prom said NO so I didn’t go. Got an after school job driving an Ice Cream Truck. Yes, I was “Mister Softee”. The best customers I had were the Coasties at Sand Island Coast Guard Station. Ice cream ran out fast on their ships so when they returned to port they were ready for a treat. They would make a line of about 10 and purchase ice cream all evening long. Vernon Asbell and I were good friends and hiked to a waterfall near the water plant. While I was in the falls and Vernon was in the pool below a boulder the size of a VW beetle fell off the side of the cliff. It landed on a log we had been sitting on 15 minutes earlier! We got out of there in a hurry. Three weeks later when we got the nerve to return we discovered that the rock was separated from the cliff by a hive of subterranean bees. (Not revenge of Pele) Another friend and I rode 10 speed bikes around the island (sorry I forgot his name). It took two days and my butt was never so sore! After graduation I went to college at Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts. I returned the next summer to attend the U of H and get a Business Statistics course out of the way. Went back to the mainland with my family on the Matson cruise lines to LA and spent 3 days in the Disney Land hotel! Dropped out of Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts and transferred to Oklahoma State University to study physics. I dropped out of OSU to go into the appliance business in south Texas. Went back to school in 1998 and completed my BS in Computer Science at Texas A&M - CC. Went to work for Texas Lutheran University in 2000 and took early retirement 18 years later. Happily residing in New Braunfels and still playing tennis. Find me by searching for Maxmitchy on YouTube. March 26, 2022 |

Thank you to the reunion committee for all your effort! What a sensation to see all these entries and remember 40 years ago in Hawaii and Radford....yearbook, tennis team, art class...being young (being young in Hawaii!!!) Still young at heart but a little creaky in the bones! I've marked the dates and plan on being there with bells on! |

Looking forward to the October event. It will be fun seeing familiar faces again. Last time was the 30th. Hard to believe I'm in my 37th year with the airlines and 29 years of marriage. I have been able to take leaves for the past 17 years allowing me to enjoy my life in Colorado, travelling and playing competitive racquetball.
